Russia's third Meteor-M No.2 expands Arctic polar weather coverage. Each new Meteor-M improves Russia's capacity to track sea ice conditions along the Northern Sea Route — which Russia is developing as a commercially viable alternative to the Suez Canal for European-Asian shipping as Arctic ice retreats.
