First of a three-satellite Chuangxin-20 formation launched together in 2023, part of China's continuing evolution of its small-satellite technology program. Flying at a distinctive 50° inclination shared by all three CX-20 satellites, this formation tests coordinated multi-spacecraft operations — a technical building block for future distributed sensing or communications relay missions that require several satellites working in concert rather than a single monolithic spacecraft.
