Kinéis-3D is one of five satellites launched November 4, 2024 aboard a Rocket Lab Electron from Mahia, New Zealand, the third of five dedicated missions deploying the full 25-satellite Kinéis constellation for French Internet-of-Things connectivity. Spun out of CNES to modernize the decades-old Argos satellite-tracking system, Kinéis's 28-kilogram nanosatellites use electric propulsion and fly in a 400-mile orbit chosen to shrink data-collection latency from hours down to about ten minutes. This satellite, like its cluster-mates, contributes to a network aimed at connecting devices anywhere on Earth for logistics, environmental monitoring, and asset tracking, positioning the constellation for full commercial service.
