GSAT0234 (Galileo 34), part of Europe's independent satellite navigation constellation, contributing Galileo's Search and Rescue relay capability, which forwards emergency distress beacon signals to rescue coordination centers in under 10 minutes and, uniquely among the major navigation systems, sends a confirmation signal back down to the person in distress.
