An SES AMC satellite providing C-band and Ku-band services at 105°W for North American cable distribution. AMC-15 serves cable television headends across the US, distributing national network feeds to local cable operators. The AMC fleet at various US orbital positions is the hidden infrastructure behind cable television — when a cable subscriber in Des Moines watches ESPN, that signal was almost certainly transmitted via C-band satellite to the local cable headend before reaching their home.
