Thailand's most powerful satellite — a high-throughput Ka-band spacecraft that launched iPSTAR, the world's first commercial Ka-band broadband service. iPSTAR/THAICOM-4 proved that satellite broadband could be economically viable for developing Asian markets, reaching subscribers in Thailand, India, Japan, Australia, and across the Pacific with internet speeds that terrestrial infrastructure couldn't provide to rural communities. It became the business model template for the entire Asian satellite broadband industry.
