A Telenor satellite at 0.8°W adding capacity to the Scandinavian DTH neighborhood. Thor-6 expanded the channel capacity available at the 0.8°W position as Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish broadcasters transitioned to HD — each HD channel requiring three times the bandwidth of its standard definition predecessor. Together the Thor satellites form the backbone of Scandinavian satellite television, serving markets with some of the highest pay television penetration rates in the world.
