A Telenor satellite at 1°W providing Ka-band maritime broadband for the North Sea alongside Ku-band Scandinavian broadcasting. Thor-7 is one of the first satellites designed specifically for the North Sea maritime market — the world's most economically concentrated area of offshore energy operations, where thousands of oil rigs, service vessels, and supply ships require reliable broadband for operations, safety, and crew welfare. The Ka-band beams cover the Norwegian, Danish, and UK sectors of the North Sea.
