GPS BIIRM-3 (PRN 12), launched in 2006, continues the Block IIR-M line's rollout of the jam-resistant M-code signal across the constellation. Every additional IIR-M satellite in orbit incrementally expanded coverage of the new modernized signals, since a receiver needs the specific satellite carrying the new capability to actually be visible overhead — full modernized coverage required patiently replacing the constellation one launch at a time over more than a decade.
