One of Globalstar's second-generation satellites, launched to restore a constellation that had nearly collapsed commercially in the mid-2000s when the first-generation fleet's amplifiers failed years ahead of their design life. This satellite is part of the recovery — a €661 million bet by Thales Alenia Space and Globalstar that paid off spectacularly in 2022 when Apple selected the network to power iPhone satellite emergency messaging.
