The Regional African Satellite Communications replacement satellite, an organization created by 44 African nations to provide sovereign satellite communications across the continent. RASCOM-QAF 1R provides C and Ku-band services serving rural communities across Africa with telephone access, internet connectivity, and television broadcasting. RASCOM represents Africa's attempt at satellite sovereignty — providing communications infrastructure that doesn't depend on European or American operators who have historically dominated African satellite markets.
