Europe's first dedicated high-throughput Ka-band broadband satellite, delivering up to 90 Gbps of residential internet capacity across Europe and the Mediterranean. KA-SAT pioneered the consumer satellite broadband market in Europe — bringing rural French farmhouses, Greek island communities, and remote Scandinavian villages into the broadband era with download speeds competitive with early DSL. When Russian forces cut Ukraine's ViaSat network in February 2022, KA-SAT was one of the satellites affected — highlighting how critical satellite broadband had become to Ukraine's wartime communications.
