An Intelsat satellite providing Ku-band capacity for South America from 21.5°W. IS-28 covers Brazil and the South Atlantic — one of Intelsat's prime positions for Brazilian market services. The satellite supports Brazilian broadcasters distributing content to remote communities across the Amazon basin and Mato Grosso, where terrestrial broadcast towers cannot economically serve the scattered population.
