The fifth BeiDou-2 IGSO satellite, completing the regional coverage needed for BeiDou's standalone navigation service across the Asia-Pacific. By 2012, the BeiDou-2 constellation of GEO and IGSO satellites was providing navigation services to China and neighboring countries — making China the first nation besides the US and Russia to deploy an independent regional navigation system in full operation.
