The first Mobile User Objective System satellite — the US Navy's 4G LTE network in space. MUOS provides smartphone-like connectivity to military users in the field, at sea, and in the air, replacing the aging UHF Follow-On system. Sailors, marines, and special operations forces can now access secure voice and data through handheld terminals not much larger than a consumer satellite phone. MUOS represented a generational leap in military tactical communications.
