The second MUOS satellite, extending 4G military mobile coverage. MUOS uses a software-defined radio waveform that can adapt to interference and changing tactical environments — essential for operations in contested electromagnetic environments where adversaries actively jam communications. The wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) technology at MUOS's core is fundamentally the same as civilian 3G/4G but hardened and encrypted for military use.
