An SES high-power Ku-band satellite at 95°E serving South and Southeast Asia. SES-8 was the first satellite launched on SpaceX's Falcon 9 v1.1 in its commercial geostationary mission configuration — a milestone launch that demonstrated SpaceX's capability to compete for the commercial geostationary satellite launch market. The satellite itself provides direct-to-home broadcasting capacity for India and Southeast Asia.
