An EchoStar satellite at 110°W providing additional capacity for DISH Network's primary position. EchoStar-18 expanded DISH's 4K Ultra HD channel capacity at the critical 110°W position — DISH was an early adopter of 4K satellite broadcasting, and each 4K channel requires roughly four times the bandwidth of an HD channel. EchoStar-18's extra capacity made DISH's 4K channel expansion possible without sacrificing existing HD channel capacity.
