Algeria's first national communications satellite, a milestone for North African space capabilities. AlComSat-1 provides direct-to-home TV broadcasting, broadband internet, and government communications across Algeria — a country the size of Western Europe where terrestrial infrastructure struggles to reach remote Saharan regions. The satellite was built by China Great Wall Industry Corporation and represents Algeria's growing space partnership with China.
