Lead satellite of the first Yaogan-31 triplet, launched December 2018 as the sixth distinct ELINT triplet family in China's naval surveillance program (following Yaogan-9, 16, 17, 20, and 25). Yaogan-31 operates in the same 63.4°-inclined, high-altitude orbital regime as Yaogan-25, providing wide-area Pacific coverage complementary to the lower-altitude, more frequently replenished Yaogan-30 triplets.
