A Jilin-1 satellite launched in 2019 as China's commercial remote sensing constellation continued its steady expansion. By this stage, Chang Guang had begun receiving substantial state and private investment — including $375 million in November 2020 — that would fund the constellation's later acceleration into mass-production territory, launching dozens of satellites per mission rather than a handful at a time.
