GPS BIII-2 (PRN 18), launched August 2019, continues the Block III generation's rollout of the L1C interoperable civilian signal and dramatically improved anti-jamming capability. Block III satellites are built on Lockheed Martin's modernized satellite bus, are designed for a 15-year operational life, and represent the GPS constellation's clearest generational leap since the system reached full operational capability in 1995 — the culmination of decades of incremental modernization finally arriving as a fully redesigned spacecraft.
