Second Tiantong mobile satellite extending Chinese satellite phone coverage across the Asia-Pacific. Tiantong-1 2 enables Chinese fishing vessel monitoring across the South China Sea — vessels fishing in disputed waters can be tracked and communicated with via satellite even when beyond cellular range. China has mandated Tiantong service terminals on fishing vessels operating in its claimed maritime zones, using satellite connectivity as both safety and sovereignty assertion.
