The first of Inmarsat's sixth-generation satellites — a massive 9-ton spacecraft combining L-band safety services with Ka-band broadband in a single platform. Inmarsat-6 represents the future of maritime communications: a single satellite providing both the regulatory-mandated GMDSS emergency communication and gigabit-class commercial broadband, making it the most capable maritime communications satellite ever built. Its L-band payload maintains continuity of international maritime safety services while its Ka-band payload transforms what ships can do with connectivity.
