A Chuangxin-series satellite launched in 2023 into a distinctive 86.5° polar orbit, continuing the Chinese Academy of Sciences' decades-long small-satellite technology demonstration program that began with the original CX-1 store-and-forward mission in 2003. Two decades and nineteen numbered missions later, the Chuangxin program remains China's quiet proving ground for satellite technologies that eventually filter into much larger operational constellations.
