Second satellite of the fifth Yaogan-39 triplet, continuing China's rapid expansion of next-generation reconnaissance satellite families sharing the 35°-inclined low Earth orbit regime. The proliferation of parallel Yaogan-35, 36, and 39 programs within a few years of each other reflects an unusually broad and well-resourced simultaneous investment across multiple successor architectures to the original Yaogan-30 ELINT constellation.
