Second satellite of the first Yaogan-40 formation, part of China's newest-generation polar-orbiting naval ELINT surveillance system. Yaogan-40's near-polar inclination lets it pass over every ocean on Earth within hours, a significant capability upgrade from the geographically limited Pacific-focused coverage of the earlier Yaogan-25 and Yaogan-30 triplet families.
