Third of the six-satellite Yunhai-2 (02) constellation launched in March 2024. Each additional occultation satellite improves the temporal and spatial density of atmospheric soundings — the vertical temperature and humidity profiles that feed both civilian weather forecasting models and, per Western intelligence assessment, Chinese military weather planning for missile trajectory calculations and operational readiness.
