Jilin-1 Kuanfu-02B 5 is the fifth of six wide-swath Earth observation satellites launched September 20, 2024 aboard a Long March 2D from Taiyuan, expanding China's Jilin-1 commercial remote-sensing constellation operated by Chang Guang Satellite Technology. Like its five cluster-mates, it's built around a wide-field imaging design that captures a broader area per pass than higher-resolution Jilin-1 variants, better suited to large-scale monitoring tasks like agriculture and disaster response than to picking out fine detail. Jilin-1 has grown into one of the largest commercial satellite imaging operations globally as Chang Guang continues adding satellites at pace.
