Part of the early Jilin-1 constellation build-out, launched in 2017 as China's commercial remote sensing capability continued expanding beyond its four-satellite founding mission. Each new Jilin-1 satellite incrementally improved the constellation's global revisit frequency — the core metric that determines how useful a commercial imaging constellation is for time-sensitive applications like disaster response, agricultural monitoring, and change detection.
