Jilin-1 Kuanfu-02B 6 completes the six-satellite batch of wide-swath Earth observation spacecraft launched together September 20, 2024 aboard a Long March 2D from Taiyuan, the newest additions to China's sprawling Jilin-1 commercial remote-sensing constellation run by Chang Guang Satellite Technology. Its wide-field imaging design trades resolution for coverage area, letting it capture more ground per pass than the higher-resolution members of the Jilin-1 family — useful for large-scale agricultural, environmental, and disaster monitoring. With this batch, Chang Guang continued its aggressive push to build one of the world's biggest commercial Earth-imaging fleets, aiming to eventually deliver same-day or multiple-daily revisit imagery of nearly anywhere on the planet.
