One of Intelsat's workhorse 900-series satellites spanning the Atlantic, providing C-band and Ku-band services between the Americas and Europe. Intelsat was founded in 1964 as a global cooperative owned by 11 nations — the organization that literally built the first global satellite communications network. IS-902 continues the tradition of connecting continents that began when Intelsat's first satellite, Early Bird, made the inaugural transatlantic television transmission in 1965.
