The third Inmarsat-4 satellite, completing global BGAN broadband coverage with a focus on the Asia-Pacific and Americas. Inmarsat-4 was also the first system to provide broadband internet to commercial aircraft in flight via the SwiftBroadband service — enabling the first widespread in-flight Wi-Fi for passengers and crew productivity internet access that airlines began deploying in the late 2000s.
