The second Chuangxin satellite, continuing China's data relay technology demonstration program. CX-1-02 refined the store-and-forward architecture tested on the original CX-1, collecting data from unattended sensors in remote areas of China — river gauges, weather stations, seismic monitors — where no other communication method could economically reach. These early Chuangxin missions built the institutional knowledge at the Shanghai microsatellite center that later produced far more capable Chinese small-satellite programs.
