One of BeiDou-2's geostationary navigation satellites, part of China's regional navigation system. BeiDou's GEO component is unique among global navigation constellations — GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo use only medium Earth orbit satellites, but BeiDou incorporates GEO and inclined geosynchronous orbits to provide stronger, more reliable signals across the Asia-Pacific, where the GEO satellites appear at favorable elevation angles.
