The third Mexican government communications satellite in the Morelos series, named after José María Morelos — a hero of Mexico's independence movement. Morelos-3 provides Ka-band broadband for Mexican government agencies, rural connectivity programs, and commercial customers. Built by Boeing and operated by Mexico's satellite authority, it continued a Mexican satellite tradition dating back to Morelos-1 in 1985 — one of Latin America's longest satellite program histories.
