The second of six Yunhai-2 satellites launched in the December 2018 constellation deployment. Yunhai-2 01B uses radio occultation — measuring how GNSS signals bend passing through Earth's atmosphere — to build vertical atmospheric profiles used for weather prediction and space weather research. Assessed by Western analysts as a military meteorological program despite China's civilian framing, Yunhai-2 satellites orbit at a distinctive 50° inclination shared by all six members of the constellation.
