A commercial Indonesian communications satellite built by SSL (now Maxar) incorporating one of the first high-throughput Ka-band payloads over Southeast Asia. Nusantara Satu serves Indonesia's enormous connectivity gap — the world's largest archipelago with 17,000+ islands and a population of 270 million, where terrestrial connectivity serves only major urban areas. It hosted a secondary payload for SpaceIL's Beresheet lunar lander mission, making it part of a unique dual mission.
