Second of the Jilin-1 Gaofen-02 sub-series, launched to expand coverage alongside Gaofen-02A. The Gaofen-02 satellites contributed to the Jilin-1 constellation's transitional period, as Chang Guang worked toward the design and manufacturing efficiencies that would eventually enable the massive Gaofen-03D deployment — 60+ satellites of a design refined through these earlier generations.
