The second new-generation Hot Bird satellite, launching alongside Hot Bird 13F to double the capacity at Europe's most important broadcasting position. Hot Bird 13G and 13F together replace three older Eutelsat satellites with two more powerful ones — a net capacity increase of over 50% at the 13°E position while reducing the number of spacecraft operating there. The pair ensures that Hot Bird remains Europe's dominant DTH neighborhood against competition from streaming and competing satellite positions.
