Europe's generational leap in geostationary meteorology. MTG-I1's Lightning Imager is the first ever on a European weather satellite, detecting every lightning flash across Europe, Africa, and the Atlantic simultaneously. Meteorologists say it extends severe weather warning lead times by 30 minutes — 30 minutes that can mean the difference between shelter and exposure in a violent storm.
