Jilin-1 Kuanfu-02B 2 is the second of six wide-swath Earth observation satellites in this launch group, part of China's Jilin-1 commercial remote-sensing constellation operated by Chang Guang Satellite Technology and launched together September 20, 2024 aboard a Long March 2D from Taiyuan. Like its cluster-mates, it prioritizes a wide imaging swath over maximum resolution, a design choice suited to large-area monitoring — agriculture, land use, disaster tracking — where covering more ground per pass matters more than resolving fine detail. Jilin-1 is one of the fastest-growing commercial Earth-imaging fleets globally, with Chang Guang Satellite Technology continuing to add satellites at a pace intended to eventually deliver same-day, or even multiple-times-daily, revisit coverage of anywhere on the planet.
