The companion to Shijian-29A, demonstrating China's twin-satellite GEO technology testing approach. Flying two identical platforms in close orbital proximity allows Chinese engineers to test distributed computing across spacecraft, formation control algorithms, and coordinated observation — capabilities that would be directly applicable to a military constellation that needs satellites to work cooperatively.
