The first Wideband Global SATCOM satellite — the US military's broadband internet in space. WGS provides the Ka and X-band capacity that enables drone video feeds, intelligence imagery downlinks, battlefield video teleconferences, and internet access for deployed forces. A single WGS satellite provides more communications capacity than the entire Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) fleet it replaced. The backbone of modern US military connectivity.
