An Indian C-band and Ku-band communications satellite providing both wide-area broadcasting and broadband services across the Indian subcontinent. GSAT-18 supports India's growing cable and DTH television ecosystem, providing the distribution backbone for regional language channels that reach specific linguistic communities — an important service in a country with 22 officially recognized languages and hundreds of regional dialects, where satellite television in one's native language is culturally significant.
