India's first Ka-band high-throughput satellite, launched as the first mission of India's heavy-lift GSLV Mk III rocket. GSAT-19 demonstrated both Ka-band satellite technology and India's new large rocket in a single mission — two firsts for India's space program. It carries propulsion experiments and space environment instrumentation alongside its communication payload, providing valuable data for future Indian satellite and launch vehicle design.
