The fourth AEHF satellite, providing redundancy and additional capacity to the protected communications constellation. AEHF-4 significantly expands the number of terminals the constellation can support simultaneously, enabling more units at every level of command to access protected links. As military communications evolved from voice-only to data-intensive over IP networks, AEHF-4 ensures those data links are as protected as the original nuclear command channels.
