A newer Tianlian second-generation relay satellite expanding China's orbital communications coverage. Tianlian 2-04 supports not only the Tiangong Space Station but China's growing fleet of commercial and government Earth observation satellites, which increasingly require high-rate downlink channels that the Tianlian system provides independently of ground station networks.
